Job Title:  Manager | Microsoft Azure | Kolkata | Engineering | Data Modernization & Migration

Key responsibilities

  • Define enterprise data-platform architecture and roadmap using Microsoft Fabric and Azure services.
  • Assess business objectives, current-state architecture, data landscape, non-functional requirements, regulatory constraints, and migration priorities.
  • Select appropriate architectural patterns across Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Data Engineering, Power BI, Real-Time Intelligence, Data Science, and Azure services.
  • Define domain-oriented data architecture, medallion layers, data products, semantic models, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Establish architecture principles, engineering standards, security controls, governance frameworks, and reusable reference architectures.
  • Lead platform sizing, Fabric capacity planning, workload management, performance strategy, resilience planning, and cost optimization.
  • Define identity, access, networking, encryption, privacy, retention, audit, disaster-recovery, and business-continuity requirements.
  • Create migration strategies and roadmaps for legacy warehouses, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Power BI, and on-premises platforms.
  • Lead architecture reviews, design authorities, technical risk assessments, and production-readiness reviews.
  • Provide oversight across multiple delivery teams and ensure adherence to architectural standards.
  • Lead technical proposals, estimations, solution presentations, proofs of concept, and client workshops.
  • Engage with senior business, data, security, infrastructure, and programme stakeholders.
  • Mentor senior engineers and architects and develop organizational Fabric capability.
  • Remain accountable for technical outcomes, platform quality, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

Mandatory technical skills

  • Extensive experience architecting enterprise cloud data and analytics platforms.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure data services and Microsoft Fabric architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Spark, Delta Lake, Power BI, and real-time processing.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture, data mesh, data products, dimensional modeling, and metadata management.
  • Expertise in security architecture, Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities, private networking, secrets management, and regulatory controls.
  • Experience designing CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, environment strategy, observability, and operational-support models.
  • Proven capability in capacity planning, performance engineering, cost management, and workload optimization.
  • Experience leading large migration or modernization programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder communication, technical governance, estimation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to compare technology options and clearly communicate architectural trade-offs.

Preferred skills

  • Experience implementing Microsoft Purview and enterprise data-governance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML, Azure AI services, Fabric Data Science, and AI-ready data architecture.
  • Experience across regulated industries or large global enterprises.
  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or comparable certification.
  • Pre-sales, consulting, proposal development, or solution-estimation experience.
