Senior Consultant – Oracle EBS Project Costing
Role Summary
The Senior Oracle EBS Project Costing Consultant is responsible for leading the design, implementation, enhancement, and support of Oracle E-Business Suite Project Costing (PA) solutions. The role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders to translate project accounting and costing requirements into scalable Oracle EBS solutions, ensuring accurate cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Functional & Implementation
- Lead end-to-end implementation and support of Oracle EBS Project Costing (PA) modules
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to:
- Project costing
- Cost allocation
- Capital vs expense projects
- Burdening
- Cost collection and adjustments
- Configure Project Costing setups including:
- Project types, templates, and classifications
- Expenditure types, cost rates, burden schedules
- Cost distribution and accounting rules
- Integrate Project Costing with:
- General Ledger (GL)
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Purchasing (PO)
- Inventory / OPM (if applicable)
- Project Billing (PB)
Financial & Reporting
- Ensure accurate project cost capitalization, revenue recognition, and cost allocation
- Support project financial reporting, including WIP, unbilled receivables, and margin analysis
- Assist with month-end and year-end project accounting close activities
- Support audits by providing costing logic, reconciliations, and documentation
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a functional lead for Project Costing streams
- Mentor junior consultants and review their deliverables
- Collaborate with technical teams for:
- RICEW objects
- Data conversions and integrations
- Communicate effectively with business users, finance teams, and project managers
Support & Enhancements
- Troubleshoot production issues related to project costs and accounting
- Recommend process improvements and system optimizations
- Support upgrades, patches, and rollouts of new functionality
Required Skills & Experience
Functional Expertise
- 7+ years of experience in Oracle EBS Project Costing
- Strong understanding of project accounting and cost control concepts
- Hands-on experience with:
- Burdening
- Cost distribution
- Cost adjustments
- Capital projects
- Experience in Oracle EBS R12 (mandatory)
Technical & Integration Knowledge
- Strong understanding of EBS data flows between PA, GL, AP, PO, and Inventory
- Ability to work with technical teams on SQL, PL/SQL, and reports (functional-level knowledge)
- Experience with RICEW objects and data migration
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to lead workshops and user training sessions
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle Project Billing and Grants Accounting
- Exposure to multi-currency and multi-org environments
Oracle EBS or Oracle Financials certification
