The team
Valuations team provides advisory & support services to Deloitte members firms’ Valuation practices in performing a diverse nature of the valuation engagements. The team has significant experience in performing valuations of varying complexities for international entities (private and public) of differing sizes operating across a diverse range of industries and stages of development.
We work as an extension of our Deloitte member firms’ valuation practices and provide dedicated support throughout the project lifecycle. Working on international assignments involving cross-border and cross-service line teams allows you to build your networks across the vast Global Deloitte network and develop understanding of the global valuation standards.
We perform valuations for various financial reporting, tax compliance, transaction support and other commercial purposes. Our core service offerings include business valuation, intangible/IP valuation, purchase price allocations, fairness opinions and audit-review support.
We also have an active international secondment program for our analysts after they gain relevant experience as we believe this plays a crucial role in their overall career and personal development. Your work profile
As an Assistant Manager in our Valuations Team you’ll build and nurture positive working relationships with teams and clients with the intention to exceed client expectations: -
A career within Valuations practice will provide a wide & valuable experience in an exciting and dynamic working & learning environment. The role will position you to support on all aspects of a valuation engagement which include the following activities:
- Perform and assisting experienced team members in valuations modelling and pricing of complex financial instruments including stock awards, options, warrants, fixed income instruments, convertible debt, contingent considerations and other derivatives for financial reporting, deal support/fund raising, financial planning and litigation purposes.
- Develop sophisticated quantitative models such as the option pricing method, lattice based framework, Monte Carlo simulation to value a variety of financial instruments depending on the payoff structure and the business circumstances.
- Preparing quality deliverables (including valuation models and reports) within agreed timeliness.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in diverse nature of engagements where you will:
- Support Deloitte member firms’ (Canadian, UK, Australian, Middle East and Europeans) complex securities valuation practice
- Develop and review valuation models of varying complexities for international entities (private and public) of differing sizes operating across a diverse range of financial instruments and perform valuation analysis, as necessary
- Work on tools such as Python and VBA to optimize the valuation models and bring efficiencies.
- Preparing valuation reports and memos summarizing the methodologies and key assumptions used.
- Provide guidance to, supervise and review the work of junior team members
- Liaise and develop relations with engagement team members in Canada, Australia, UK, Middle East and Europe as required
- Work towards tight deadlines, adding value to complex and high profile projects
- Demonstrate strong business diagnostic skills and the ability to apply a logical and analytical approach to problem solving
Key skills required:
In order to be considered for the role, your competencies will cover the broad scope of business modelling services, leveraging your professional background and skills such as:
- CA / CFA (International)
- Excellent track record and strong academic achievements
- Experience with any of the Big 4 firms, leading investment banks, or their support centers is an asset
- At least one year of experience in the valuation of complex financial instruments, such as employee stock awards, warrants preferred shares, contingent considerations, fixed income instruments and hybrid instruments.
- Familiarity with credit risk assessment and synthetic credit rating approaches.
- Valuation of early-stage venture capital backed companies with complex capital structures as well as Venture capital/Private Equity fund valuation
- Understanding of Black-Scholes options pricing model in context of the above valuations. Hands on experience with US based 409A valuations would be an added advantage
- Experience in more sophisticated option pricing models such as Binomial Lattice and Monte-Carlo simulation would be an added advantage
- Proficiency in Python/VBA would be a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven analytical and systematic problem-solving skills
- Advance knowledge of using data sources such as Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Thomson etc.
- Advance knowledge of Excel
- Ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
