Your work profile
Role Summary
The Investment Banking Middle Office Reconciliation Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of trade, position, and cash data across multiple systems. The role acts as a key control function between Front Office, Back Office, and external counterparties, ensuring timely identification, investigation, and resolution of breaks across various asset classes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Trade & Position Reconciliation
- Perform daily reconciliation of trades, positions, and cash across internal systems (front-office platforms, books & records, settlement systems).
- Identify mismatches and breaks; investigate root causes and drive timely resolution.
- Reconcile across multiple asset classes such as equities, fixed income, derivatives (OTC & listed), FX, and structured products.
2. Exception & Break Management
- Manage daily exceptions workflow using reconciliation tools (e.g., TLM, Intellimatch, JSON, Alteryx, or in-house platforms).
- Work with Front Office, Settlements, and external counterparties to resolve trade discrepancies.
- Escalate high‑risk or aging breaks in line with governance and control frameworks.
3. Control & Process Governance
- Ensure compliance with internal control standards, regulatory requirements, and audit guidelines.
- Maintain documented procedures, process maps, and control checklists.
- Support internal/external audits and risk assessments by providing data and evidence.
4. Stakeholder Coordination
- Partner with Front Office, Risk, Operations, Finance, and Technology teams to resolve reconciliation issues.
- Communicate actively on breaks, risk items, and operational trends.
5. Data Quality & Process Improvement
- Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring issues and recommend preventive measures.
- Support automation initiatives and continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency.
- Participate in new system migrations, UAT, and process transformations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of investment banking products:
- Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Money Markets
- Listed & OTC Derivatives
- Repos & Securities Lending
- Familiarity with reconciliation tools: SmartStream TLM, Intellimatch, or similar systems.
- Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), with advantage for VBA, SQL, or Alteryx.
- Good understanding of trade lifecycle, clearing & settlement processes.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across teams.
- High attention to detail and risk awareness.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
