Your work profile
We’re looking for an Assistant Manager in Deloitte India Payroll Team who thrives on accuracy and efficiency, a payroll expert who ensures timely and compliant salary processing. You’ll be the guardian of employee compensation data, bridging HR, finance, and operations smoothly. You will lead payroll processing activities, compliance, and vendor coordination for a Business Unit. This role is part of Deloitte South-East Asia HR & Finance shared services and reports to the Payroll Manager.
Job description
Payroll Processing & Compliance:
- Execute end-to-end payroll processing, including full & final settlements for assigned Business Units, ensuring timely and accurate salary disbursement.
- Review payroll inputs, adjustments, and accruals for accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements (PF, ESI, TDS, PT, etc.) and internal policies.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (HR, Finance) and external vendors for payroll data reconciliation and issue resolution.
Data Accuracy & Controls:
- Perform regular audits and validations of payroll data to maintain integrity and accuracy.
- Flag potentially fraudulent inputs or anomalies in payroll input data received from HR / Business
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee queries with a focus on root cause analysis.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for audit readiness.
Reporting & MIS:
- Prepare and deliver detailed payroll reports and dashboards, highlighting key metrics and trends.
- Support month-end payroll reporting, providing data for financial reconciliation and forecasting.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of statutory filings and returns within deadlines.
Process Improvement & Automation:
- Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and enhance automation.
- Work closely with technology teams to implement payroll system enhancements.
- Suggest improvements to reduce errors and increase efficiency.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Partner actively with HR, Finance, and global teams to ensure seamless payroll operations.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to handle escalations and process changes.
- Support audit activities related to payroll and compliance.
Learning opportunity:
· Support stat accounts/ financial statement preparation for which training will be provided.
Must have:
- 9+ years of experience in payroll processing within a large, service-based or professional services organization.
- Strong knowledge of Indian payroll statutory compliances and regulations.
· Hands-on experience with payroll systems, with preference to SAP Payroll.
· Advanced Excel skills and ability to create accurate reports.
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· Ability to interact with HR Director and respond to senior leadership queries
· Ability to prioritize tasks and work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualification:
· Graduate or MBA in Finance/HR/Business Administration preferred.
· Payroll certifications will be an added advantage.
