Role: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Redis DBA to design, operate, and optimize mission-critical on‑premise Redis environments. The role covers HA/DR architectures (Redis Cluster & Sentinel), performance tuning for memory-first workloads, persistence strategies (RDB/AOF), security hardening, automation, observability, and leadership across operations and modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Architecture & High Availability

- Design and operate Redis Cluster (sharding/slots) and Redis Sentinel for automated failover.
- Engineer HA/DR, including cross‑DC replication, geo-redundancy, and capacity planning for high‑throughput/low‑latency workloads.
- Define persistence strategies (RDB snapshots, AOF, AOF rewrite), durability SLAs, and storage considerations (filesystem tuning, I/O strategies).
- Evaluate and (optionally) operate Redis Enterprise features (Active‑Active/CRDTs, multi‑AZ, tiered memory, modules).
- Administration
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Redis OSS (and Redis Enterprise if applicable) on Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
- Manage replication, sharding, and failover policies; implement connection pooling and client resilient patterns.
- Plan keyspace design, data structures (Strings, Lists, Sets, Sorted Sets, Hashes), and modules (RedisJSON, RedisSearch, RedisTimeSeries, Bloom).
- Implement backup & recovery: scheduled RDB dumps, AOF management, filesystem snapshots (e.g., LVM), hot/cold backup SOPs, and DR drills.
- Performance & Optimization

- Optimize memory footprint, eviction policies (noeviction/volatile‑, allkeys‑), maxmemory settings, and compression/module strategies.
- Tune latency via pipelining, client-side batching, TCP/keepalive, I/O threads (where supported), and network settings.
- Analyze and remediate hotspots: big keys, skewed slot distribution, slowlog, blocking commands, and long‑running Lua scripts.
- Benchmark and size environments using redis-benchmark, realistic workload replay, and flame graphs (optional).
- Security & Compliance

- Enforce TLS/SSL, ACLs, strong auth/rotations, and restricted bind/port exposure; harden OS/network paths.
- Define RBAC/SOPs for access, secrets management, audit trails, and configuration baselines.
- Align with compliance standards (e.g., PCI/ISO), including data retention, privacy, and encryption at rest (via OS/storage layers).
- Observability & Automation

- Implement monitoring/alerting via Prometheus + Grafana (redis‑exporter), RedisInsight, OS metrics, and log pipelines.
- Build runbooks and automate provisioning, config, and maintenance using Bash, Python, and Ansible (or Terraform for infra).
- Establish SLOs/SLIs for latency, throughput, memory fragmentation, hit ratio, failover MTTR, and persistence lag.
- Collaboration & Leadership

- Partner with application teams to model data structures, TTL strategies, and cache‑aside/write‑through/read‑through patterns.
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and preventive actions; mentor junior DBAs/engineers.
- Guide modernization, capacity growth, version upgrades, and (optional) hybrid adoption with cloud caches.

Your work profile
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 9–15 years of DBA experience with strong hands-on expertise in Redis production environments (on‑prem).
- Proven experience with Redis Cluster & Sentinel, replication, and HA/DR designs.
- Deep knowledge of persistence (RDB/AOF), performance tuning, and memory management/eviction policies.
- Proficient in Linux administration, networking, and storage/I/O fundamentals.
- Strong scripting/automation skills (Bash, Python) and config management (Ansible).
- Experience with monitoring stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, redis‑exporter) and RedisInsight.
Desired qualifications
- Experience with Oracle-to-Postgres migration using EDB tools.
- Knowledge of pgBouncer, pgpool-II, and advanced PostgreSQL extensions (PostGIS, TimescaleDB).
- Certifications: PostgreSQL Professional or EDB Postgres Advanced DBA.
