The team

The Deloitte Valuation Advisory Services team (“Valuation team”) consist of highly skilled and experienced professionals dedicated to providing companies with valuation requirements pertaining to mergers/ demergers / restructuring, acquisition / divestiture, portfolio valuation, dispute valuation, divestments etc.. Also, our Valuation team is amongst India’s premier and preferred teams, with a reputation built over the years based on its quality and integrity. The team has been involved in path-breaking merger valuations and complex valuations such as the first overseas swap carried out.

Deloitte valuation professionals help clients solve complex business and transaction issues, including analyzing alternatives. Providing well-reasoned valuations and advice is only part of the offering. Just as important, Deloitte professionals understand how to develop valuation estimates in concert with prevailing accounting, tax, and regulatory codes.

Your work profile

 

As an Associate Director in our Valuations team you’ll build and nurture positive working relationships with teams and clients with the intention to exceed client expectations. You’ll:

A career within Valuations practice will provide a wide & valuable experience in an exciting and dynamic working & learning environment. The role will position you to support on all aspects of a valuation engagement which include the following activities:

  • Quickly developing an understanding of the industry, company’s business operation and its key operating drivers.
  • Interpreting and analyzing financial statements, annual reports, management presentations, business plans, and other publicly available information.
  • Performing and assisting experienced team members in executing a wide variety of the Fixed Assets and capital equipment valuation exercise (including valuation of the such assets of the company, valuation of such assets acquired in M&A transactions, asset impairment testing, and valuation for deal support/fund raising, financial planning and litigation purposes).
  • Preparing quality deliverables (including valuation models and reports) within agreed timeliness.

As a Director, you will have the opportunity to be involved in diverse nature of engagements where you will:

Your role would be to interact with clients, understand the exact scope of valuation assignment, devise approach to execute the assignment under overall guidance of valuation group partner, help the team members in direction of research efforts for the job, carry out valuation computations, write the report and get a review done by the partner. His/her role typically comprises of leading an engagement team on a valuation assignment. It would also include following up the clients, with support of valuation group partner, for fee collection and winning follow-on opportunities visible there, if any. AVP is also expected to provide some amount of guidance to his/her team members towards their learning and development. The role would include:

 

    1. Client Management
  • Lead role in execution of client service

 

    1. Networking & Marketing
  • Create and manage good independent relationships with clients
  • Expand opportunities with existing clients, identify and act on referrals typically in relation to his service line
  • Build broad networks within the firm locally and internationally

 

    1. Lead and coordinate the planning and management of assignments, with guidance from the Partner

 

    1. Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with risk management strategies, plans and activities
  • Handle straightforward risk management issues.
  • Take on progressively greater risk management responsibility for high risk issues
  • Proactively resolve (with Partner support) risk issues in delivering service to clients

 

    1. Knowledge Management
  • Strong contribution to knowledge sharing efforts, review and continually improve processes so that the team and firm capture and leverage knowledge

 

Desired qualifications

  • MBA, Civil engineer or Chartered Accountant with relevant experience, affiliations to professional bodies will be considered as an added advantage
  • Excellent track record and strong academic achievements
  • 14+ years of relevant valuations work experience
  • Experience with any of the Big 4 firms, leading valuation firms, or their support centres is an asset
  • In-depth understanding of financial and valuation principles
  • Experience with tangible asset valuations - purchase price allocations, business valuations, and asset impairment testing as per accounting standards (Ind AS and/ or IFRS)
  • Financial modelling experience, mainly of portfolio valuation models
  • Sound grasp of MS Excel; a natural interest in working and learning to use it to an advanced level
  • Advanced knowledge of using various research databases like CapitalIQ, Bloomberg, etc.
  • Excellent analytical, project management and teamwork competencies  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven analytical and systematic problem solving skills
  • Interest in working in a challenging and dynamic environment
  • Ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization
  • Proven business development and marketing techniques, and ability to pursue and close business growth opportunities

Location and way of working

  • Base location: Mumbai
  • This profile involves frequent travelling to client location
