Your work profile

We are seeking a qualified Chartered Accountant with deep expertise in IFRS 17 (Insurance Contracts) and IFRS 9 (Financial Instruments) to join our Accounting and Reporting Assurance team. The role focuses on enabling clients—particularly in the insurance and financial services sectors—to design, implement, and operationalize accounting frameworks compliant with IFRS 17 and IFRS 9. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in IFRS, experience with financial transformation projects, and the ability to translate complex accounting requirements into practical business solutions.

 

In our Assurance Team you’ll build and nurture positive working relationships with teams and clients with the intention to exceed client expectations: -

  • Advise clients on the technical interpretation and application of IFRS 17 and IFRS 9, including accounting policies, classification, measurement, and disclosures.
  • Lead and support IFRS 17/IFRS 9 implementation projects, covering design, gap analysis, system requirements, process changes, and financial impact assessments.
  • Collaborate with client finance, actuarial, risk, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of accounting and operational requirements.
  • Assist in developing methodologies for the recognition and measurement of insurance contracts, financial instruments, expected credit losses (ECL), and related areas.
  • Prepare or review technical accounting papers, position memos, and impact assessments for clients and audit teams. 
  • Support clients in data mapping, system testing, and model validation to ensure IFRS-compliant outputs.
  • Conduct training and workshops for client teams on IFRS 17, IFRS 9, and other relevant standards.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, technical guidance, and internal knowledge sharing within the advisory practice.
  • Provide insights on the interaction of IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 with other accounting standards such as IFRS 15 (Revenue), IFRS 16 (Leases), IFRS 13 (Fair Value Measurement), and IAS 12 (Income Taxes).
  • Train and mentor team members on the technical and operational areas.

Desired qualifications 

  • Chartered Accountant (CA / ACCA) qualification is mandatory.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in accounting advisory, audit, or financial reporting.
  • Proven experience in IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 implementation projects (insurance or financial institutions).
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS standards, with an emphasis on insurance, financial instruments, and related reporting frameworks.
  • Exposure to financial systems, sub-ledgers, or data solutions used for IFRS 17/IFRS 9
  • Excellent analytical, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities, with the capability to explain complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences. 

Location and way of working

  • Base location: Mumbai
  • This profile involves frequent travelling to client locations
