Your work profile
The SAP Project Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of SAP S/4HANA implementation, migration, rollout, and transformation programs. The role includes project planning, governance, stakeholder management, budget control, resource management, risk management, quality assurance, cutover planning, Go-Live, and Hypercare management while ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
The Project Manager acts as the primary point of contact for executive stakeholders, business leaders, implementation partners, SAP, and third-party vendors.The SAP Project Manager is expected to provide strategic leadership for SAP S/4HANA transformation programs by ensuring successful project delivery from initiation through Go-Live and Hypercare. The role is accountable for project governance, stakeholder engagement, financial management, risk mitigation, quality assurance, and business value realization. The Project Manager should foster collaboration across business and technical teams, drive adoption of SAP best practices, proactively manage risks and dependencies, and ensure that the SAP S/4HANA program delivers measurable business outcomes with minimal operational disruption.
Key skills required
- 8–10 years of SAP consulting and project management experience.
- Minimum 8–10 years of SAP project management experience leading large-scale ERP implementation or transformation programs.
- Experience in 3–5 end-to-end SAP S/4HANA implementation, Greenfield, Brownfield, Bluefield, or ECC to S/4HANA Conversion projects.
Project Leadership
- Lead end-to-end SAP S/4HANA implementation and transformation programs.
- Define project vision, objectives, scope, and success criteria.
- Establish project governance and delivery frameworks.
- Drive collaboration across business and IT organizations.
- Ensure alignment with organizational strategy and business goals.
- Lead cross-functional and geographically distributed project teams.
Project Planning & Delivery
- Develop comprehensive project plans using SAP Activate methodology.
- Define project scope, milestones, timelines, and deliverables.
- Manage implementation across Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, and Run phases.
- Track progress against baselines and initiate corrective actions.
- Manage project dependencies and critical path activities.
- Ensure adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
SAP S/4HANA Implementation Management
- Lead Greenfield, Brownfield, Bluefield, and Selective Data Transition projects.
- Oversee SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA conversion activities.
- Coordinate Fit-to-Standard workshops and solution validation.
- Manage configuration, development, integration, testing, data migration, and deployment activities.
- Ensure alignment with SAP best practices and Clean Core principles.
Scope & Change Management
- Define and control project scope.
- Evaluate and approve change requests.
- Assess impacts on schedule, cost, quality, and resources.
- Maintain scope baseline and change logs.
- Manage project assumptions, constraints, and dependencies.
Budget & Financial Management
- Prepare and manage project budgets.
- Track project costs and resource utilization.
- Monitor project profitability and financial performance.
- Review invoices and vendor billing.
- Manage contingency budgets and financial forecasts.
Resource Management
- Build and lead cross-functional SAP delivery teams.
- Allocate resources based on project priorities.
- Monitor team utilization and productivity.
- Coordinate internal teams, implementation partners, and third-party vendors.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding of project resources.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary contact for business sponsors and executive leadership.
- Conduct Steering Committee (SteerCo) meetings.
- Provide executive status reports and dashboards.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and communications.
- Facilitate decision-making and issue resolution.
- Coordinate with SAP, hyperscalers, system integrators, and external vendors.
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks.
- Maintain Risk and Issue Registers.
- Develop mitigation and contingency plans.
- Escalate critical issues to governance committees.
- Monitor risk response effectiveness throughout the project lifecycle.
Quality Assurance
- Establish project quality standards.
- Conduct quality reviews and stage gate assessments.
- Ensure compliance with SAP Activate methodology.
- Monitor adherence to project governance and delivery processes.
- Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned activities.
Governance & Reporting
- Conduct Project Management Office (PMO) reviews.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and executive status reports.
- Present updates to Steering Committees and executive leadership.
- Monitor KPIs and project health indicators.
- Ensure compliance with audit and governance requirements.
