Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Consultant – Kong API Developer with 5–7 years of experience in designing, developing, and managing API solutions using Kong API Gateway and related API management technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in building secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs, while also contributing to solution design, integration patterns, and best practices for enterprise API management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and manage APIs using Kong API Gateway and related plugins.
• Implement API security policies, including OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, and API key-based authentication.
• Configure and customize Kong plugins (Lua or Go) to extend gateway capabilities.
• Collaborate with architects to define API integration patterns, microservices architecture, and cloud-native designs.
• Deploy and manage Kong across hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Kubernetes-based).
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize API performance using observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
• Work closely with DevOps teams to automate API deployments via CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide technical guidance to clients and junior developers on API best practices and standards.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise governance, security, and data privacy standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5–7 years of IT experience with at least 3+ years of hands-on expertise in Kong API Gateway.
• Strong proficiency in API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and API lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience in Kong Enterprise features (Developer Portal, Rate Limiting, Service Mesh, Control Plane).
• Expertise in API security standards (OAuth2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT).
• Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized deployments.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Azure DevOps).
• Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Go, Lua, or Java.
• Experience with cloud-native deployments (AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, or Apigee is a plus).

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with event-driven integrations (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Confluent).
• Knowledge of GraphQL federation and API monetization strategies.
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices and API threat protection.
• Hands-on with observability and tracing tools.

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to mentor junior developers and lead technical discussions.
