Key Responsibilities

  • Own the complete lifecycle of assigned banking applications (e.g., Core Banking, Digital Banking, Lending, Payments, CRM, or Trade Finance systems)
  • Act as the primary liaison between business units (Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Risk, Compliance, Operations) and IT teams
  • Define and prioritize the application roadmap in alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements
  • Manage application budget, vendor relationships, and licensing costs effectively
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of applications through proactive monitoring and incident management
  • Oversee change management, release planning, and deployment processes while maintaining strict change control in a regulated environment
  • Ensure applications comply with all applicable banking regulations, RBI guidelines, data privacy laws (DPDP Act), and internal security policies
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives including modernization, cloud migration, and digital transformation of legacy systems
  • Manage application risk, security vulnerabilities, and audit findings; implement timely remediation plans
  • Coordinate with Information Security, Cyber Security, and Compliance teams for periodic audits and certifications
  • Prepare and present application health reports, SLAs, and performance dashboards to senior management and steering committees
  • Lead or participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing for critical applications

 

 

Required Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • 8+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years as an Application Owner, Product Owner, or Application Manager in a banking or financial services environment
  • Strong domain knowledge of banking products, processes, and regulatory landscape in India (RBI, NPCI, UPI, IFSC, AML, KYC, etc.)
  • Experience managing mission-critical banking applications (Finacle, Temenos, Oracle FLEXCUBE, or similar core banking systems is highly desirable)
  • Proven track record of successfully managing application stability, uptime, and major transformation projects
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills – ability to engage with both business leaders and technical teams
  • Strong understanding of ITIL, SDLC, Agile, and DevOps practices
  • Experience working with onshore/offshore vendors and managed service providers

 

Preferred Skills

Certification in ITIL, PMP, CBAP, or Domain-specific banking certifications

Hands-on exposure to cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and modern application architectures

Experience with API platforms, microservices, and digital banking channels (Mobile App, Internet Banking)

Knowledge of data governance, quality, and reporting tools

Familiarity with regulatory technology (RegTech) and compliance automation
