Role Summary
The SOC L1 Analyst is responsible for 24×7 security monitoring and first-level analysis of alerts generated in IBM QRadar SIEM. The role focuses on alert triage, initial investigation, and timely escalation of security incidents in line with SOC processes and SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
- 2 years of experience
- Monitor and analyze security alerts and offenses in IBM QRadar
- Perform initial triage and validation of alerts using defined SOPs
- Review logs from firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR, AD, VPN, servers, and applications
- Identify false positives and close alerts with proper justification
- Escalate confirmed or suspicious incidents to SOC L2 with complete evidence
- Create, update, and manage incident tickets in ServiceNow / Jira
- Follow playbooks, runbooks, and shift handover procedures
- Support basic QRadar health checks and log source monitoring
- Maintain accurate incident documentation and daily reports
Technical Skills Required
- Hands-on experience with IBM QRadar SIEM
- Understanding of:
- Security events, offenses, and correlation concepts
- Network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS)
- Basic malware, phishing, and endpoint security concepts
- Familiarity with:
- SOC operations and incident response lifecycle
- MITRE ATT&CK (basic awareness)
- Ticketing systems and documentation standards
Experience & Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in SOC / SIEM operations
- Exposure to enterprise security environments
- Willingness to work in 24×7 rotational shifts
- Good analytical and communication skills
Certifications (Good to Have)
- IBM QRadar Analyst / Fundamentals
- CompTIA Security+, CEH (Foundation)
Desired qualifications
- Education B. E / B.Tech (Tier 1/2) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields
