Your work profile.
We are seeking a hands‑on Linux System Administrator to support and enhance mission‑critical, on‑premise infrastructure at a large financial services client. The ideal candidate has strong experience with enterprise Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu), automation, virtualization, security hardening, and production operations. You’ll work onsite with cross‑functional teams to deliver secure, resilient, and well‑documented services aligned to banking/financial compliance standards.
- Operations & Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) in on‑prem data centers.
- Manage system services (systemd), user and group administration, sudoers, PAM, SSH, and certificate/TLS management.
- Perform routine patching/updates (yum/dnf/apt), kernel updates, and package lifecycle management.
- Filesystem/LVM management (ext4/xfs), swap, fstab, and performance tuning.
- Monitor system health and capacity (CPU, memory, disk, I/O) and remediate bottlenecks.
- Security & Compliance
- Integrate with enterprise identity (LDAP/AD, Kerberos), enforce least‑privilege, and maintain secure configurations.
- Support vulnerability management (e.g., Qualys/Nessus) and coordinate remediation with change controls.
- Automation & Scripting
- Use Bash (and optionally Python) to automate routine tasks and build operational scripts.
- Employ Ansible (or similar) for configuration management, repeatable builds, and drift remediation.
- Create and maintain runbooks/playbooks and internal documentation.
- Virtualization & Infrastructure
- Administer VMware vSphere/ESXi (or KVM)—provisioning, templates, snapshots, resource tuning.
- Collaborate with storage teams on SAN/NAS, multipathing, and filesystem mount strategies.
- Support backup/restore processes (e.g., Commvault, NetBackup) and test recovery scenarios.
- Implement and manage HA/Clustering (Pacemaker/Corosync), load balancing, and failover strategies.
- Networking & Observability
- Configure TCP/IP networking, routing, bonding/teaming, VLANs, DNS, NTP, and basic firewall rules.
- Centralize logs (rsyslog/syslog‑ng) and integrate with SIEM (e.g., Splunk); create actionable alerts/dashboards.
- Reliability, Change & Incident Management
- Participate in incident response, root‑cause analysis, and post‑mortems.
- Contribute to capacity planning, DR drills, and continuous improvement initiatives
- 3–5 years of hands‑on Linux administration in enterprise environments.
- Strong proficiency in RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu, Bash scripting, and Ansible.
- Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi (or KVM) and on‑prem server lifecycle management.
- Solid understanding of LVM, filesystems (ext4/xfs), boot & systemd, and performance tuning.
- Working knowledge of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, VLANs, routing, firewalls).
- Strong documentation skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
Desired qualifications
- Experience with backup solutions (Commvault/NetBackup) and DR/BCP exercises.
- Knowledge of HA clustering (Pacemaker/Corosync) and load balancers.
- Basic Python for automation, and Git for version control.
- Familiarity with Containerization (Docker/Podman) and CI/CD basics for infra-as-code pipelines.
- B.E / B.Tech (Tier 1/2) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields
- Able to assess impact of decisions and propose reasoned recommendations.
- Proven experience overseeing operational approaches and tools and assessing effectiveness.

- Base location: Navi Mumbai
- This profile requires working from office all 5 days.
