Your work profile
The GCP data engineer is responsible for managing client relationships and overseeing the successful delivery of programs or accounts. This role serves as the primary point of contact between the organization and its clients, ensuring alignment of goals, timelines, budgets, and expected outcomes while driving client satisfaction and business growth.
Key Skills & Competencies
- 9+ years of experience in architecting, building, and managing enterprise-scale Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, Data Integration, Data Migration, and BI / AI solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Must have led at least 1–2 end‑to‑end implementations of Data Warehouse and/or Data Lake solutions.
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost‑efficient data platforms on GCP.
- Design and optimize batch and real-time data pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Composer (Airflow).
- Architect and manage GCP databases including Bigtable, Spanner, Cloud SQL, and AlloyDB, selecting the right technology for each use case.
- Drive data modeling, data warehousing, and performance optimization strategies.
- Define and implement CI/CD standards for data engineering workloads.
- Lead complex data and application migration programs, including legacy modernization initiatives.
- Implement robust data quality frameworks, validation rules, monitoring, and alerting.
- Ensure security, governance, and compliance best practices (IAM, encryption, access controls).
- Optimize solutions for cost, scalability, availability, and reliability.
- Act as a technical advisor to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Review designs and code, providing guidance and best practices to the team.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers and consultants.
- Support pre-sales activities, solution estimations, and technical proposals (where applicable).
- Deep expertise in GCP data services, including: BigQuery, Dataproc, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer (Airflow), Cloud Functions, GCS
- Expert knowledge of Bigtable, Spanner, Cloud SQL, and AlloyDB
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and distributed data processing frameworks
- Proven experience in large-scale data migrations and cloud transformations
- Strong grasp of service-oriented architecture, cloud-based web services, and design patterns
- Excellent communication, presentation, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Experience managing multi-location and multi-disciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Education - B. tech or BE
Success Metrics
- Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Architect (or equivalent cloud certifications)
- Experience leading enterprise or global data transformation programs
- Exposure to data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
- Background in consulting or client-facing delivery environments
