Your Work Profile

The Technical Business Analyst will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and the analytics/data engineering teams to deliver data-driven solutions for Oil & Gas operations. The role involves gathering business requirements, performing data analysis, supporting reporting initiatives, and ensuring successful delivery of analytics solutions leveraging SQL, Databricks, and Power BI.

The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, understanding of Oil & Gas business processes, and the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

Business Analysis & Requirement Management

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements and reporting needs.

• Conduct requirement workshops and stakeholder discussions across Oil & Gas business functions.

• Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for data and analytics teams.

• Prepare user stories, process flows, business rules, data mappings, and acceptance criteria.

• Support Agile delivery processes including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and user acceptance testing.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement through data-driven insights and automation.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Analyze large datasets using SQL to identify trends, anomalies, and business insights.

• Work with Data Engineering teams to understand data availability, lineage, and quality issues.

• Validate source-to-target mappings and ensure data accuracy across reporting solutions.

• Support creation and enhancement of Power BI dashboards and operational reports.

• Assist business users in interpreting data and deriving actionable insights.

• Develop ad-hoc reports and perform root cause analysis for business issues.

Databricks & Analytics Support

• Work with Databricks teams to understand data pipelines, transformations, and business logic.

• Validate business requirements against available datasets within Databricks Lakehouse environment.

• Support testing and validation of data products, reports, and analytical solutions.

• Coordinate with data engineers to ensure business rules are correctly implemented.

• Participate in defect triage, issue resolution, and production support activities.

Oil & Gas Domain Responsibilities

• Understand key business processes across Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream operations.

• Support reporting and analytics initiatives related to Production, Supply Chain, Inventory, Retail, Finance, and Operations.

• Analyze operational KPIs and performance metrics to support business decision-making.

• Work closely with business SMEs to define KPI calculations and reporting requirements.

• Ensure business terminology and domain logic are accurately represented in reports and dashboards.

Key Skills Required

• Strong experience in requirement gathering, business analysis, and stakeholder management.

• Excellent SQL skills for data analysis and validation.

• Basic to Intermediate Power BI knowledge including dashboards, reports, and visualizations.

• Understanding of Databricks Lakehouse architecture and data workflows.

• Experience creating BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, and functional specifications.

• Ability to perform data profiling, data validation, and root cause analysis.

• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.

• Experience supporting UAT, SIT, and production releases.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or related field.

• 3–8 years of experience in Business Analysis, Data Analytics, or Reporting projects.

• Prior experience in Oil & Gas industry preferred.

• Experience working with SQL and BI reporting tools is mandatory.

• Exposure to Databricks, Azure Data Platform, or cloud analytics environments is preferred.

• Anyone with a graduation
