Qlik Consultant – Job Description (Consultant Level)

Role Overview

A Qlik Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing BI solutions using Qlik Sense and/or QlikView. At the consultant level, you’re expected to work independently on modules, interact with stakeholders, and deliver scalable analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop dashboards, reports, and data models using Qlik tools
• Gather and understand business requirements from stakeholders
• Translate business needs into technical specifications
• Build data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) scripts
• Optimize application performance and data models
• Perform data validation, testing, and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams
• Maintain and enhance existing Qlik applications
• Provide user training and documentation

Required Skills

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Qlik Sense (mandatory in most roles)
• Good knowledge of QlikView (often legacy but still relevant)
• Proficiency in SQL and database concepts
• Hands-on experience with ETL processes and data modeling
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts (star/snowflake schemas)
• Familiarity with APIs, REST connections, and data integration

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of other BI tools like Power BI or Tableau
• Basic scripting (Python, Shell, or similar)
• Cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving ability
• Good communication with business users
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Attention to detail and data accuracy

Experience Requirements

• Typically 2–6 years of experience in BI/Data Analytics
• At least 1–3 years working specifically with Qlik tools
