Your work profile
- We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / IT Project Manager to lead delivery and governance for a mainframe SDLC transformation program.
- This role will drive end-to-end project and program execution, ensure the new solution meets governance, risk, compliance, and control requirements, and coordinate stakeholders across multiple regions and time zones.
- Experience: The ideal candidate brings minimum 12-15 years of project and program management experience in complex enterprise IT environments, with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage global delivery.
- Lead end-to-end delivery for a team, program, or value stream by combining Agile leadership (Scrum/Kanban), delivery governance, and project management discipline. You’ll enable teams to deliver outcomes predictably, remove impediments, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure stakeholders have clear visibility and control from initiation through to go-live and benefits realization.
Key Skills Required:
- Facilitate and continuously improve Agile ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) to drive focus, flow, and delivery outcomes.
- Coach Product Owners, team members, and stakeholders on Agile principles, outcome-based planning, and effective backlog management.
- Establish and maintain working agreements, Definition of Ready/Done, and continuous improvement practices.
- Identify and remove impediments; address systemic blockers by influencing across teams and leadership.
- Coordinate cross-team ways of working, dependency management, and release planning (including scaled planning where needed).
- Own delivery plans and execution across scope, schedule, budget (where applicable), resources, and milestones.
- Manage RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) with clear mitigation actions, owners, and escalation paths.
- Run governance routines: status reporting, steering/working groups, decision logs, change control, and delivery checkpoints.
- Manage stakeholder expectations through clear communication of progress, trade-offs, impacts, and decisions required.
- Drive operational readiness: cutover planning, training, communications, support model, and handover to BAU.
- Metrics, transparency & continuous improvement
- Define and track meaningful delivery metrics (e.g., predictability, throughput/velocity trends, cycle time, quality/defect trends, release readiness).
- Use data to improve delivery performance, quality, and team health—balancing pace with sustainability.
- Maintain delivery tooling and artefacts (e.g., Jira/Azure DevOps, Confluence, RAID logs, plans, dashboards).
- Risk, control & quality
- Partner with Technology, Operations, Risk/Compliance and other control functions to ensure delivery meets governance and audit expectations.
- Promote quality practices (clear acceptance criteria, testing discipline, automation/CI-CD where relevant) and ensure non-functional requirements are addressed.
- Ensure documentation and evidence are maintained appropriately for regulated environments.
- Demonstrable experience in Agile delivery roles (Scrum Master and/or Agile Lead) plus strong project/delivery management capability in complex organisations.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills; able to influence without formal authority.
- Proven ability to manage cross-team dependencies and drive delivery in a matrix environment.
- Solid understanding of Agile methods (Scrum/Kanban) and hybrid delivery approaches.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with delivery tools (e.g., Jira/Azure DevOps, Git, Nexus, Jenkins Confluence; MS Project/Excel/PowerPoint as needed).
- Certifications such as PSM/CSM, PRINCE2/PMP, SAFe (or equivalent), Agile coaching credentials (e.g., ICAgile).
- Experience delivering technology-enabled change (platforms, data, process automation) and working with third parties/vendors.
- Experience operating in regulated environments with strong governance and control requirements.
- Experience in mainframe projects/ knowledge of mainframe systems would be an added advantage
- Predictable delivery cadence with improved flow (reduced cycle time, fewer ageing blockers).
- Transparent governance with timely decisions and no “surprise” escalations.
- High-quality releases with strong operational readiness and smooth handover to BAU.
- Measurable improvements in team effectiveness, stakeholder confidence, and value delivered.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
