Solution Architect – SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (EC Payroll)
Role Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Solution Architect – SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) with strong technical depth and global payroll expertise. The role requires end-to-end ownership of payroll solution design, architecture governance, statutory compliance alignment, and integration strategy across multi-country deployments.
The ideal candidate brings 10–18 years of SAP HCM/Payroll experience, including multiple global implementations of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll, with proven expertise in architecting scalable, compliant, and high-performance payroll solutions.
Core Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Design Leadership
- Define end-to-end payroll solution architecture for global deployments.
- Design scalable, compliant payroll frameworks covering schema, PCRs, wage types, and posting logic.
- Lead blueprinting workshops, translate business requirements into technical design documents, and ensure architectural governance.
- Provide architectural guidance for multi-country rollouts and template-based implementations.
- Review and approve configuration, custom developments, enhancements, and integrations.
Deep Technical Expertise – EC Payroll
Strong hands-on expertise in:
- Payroll Schemas & Subschemas (customization and country-specific logic)
- Personnel Calculation Rules (PCRs) – complex rule writing and troubleshooting
- Wage Type Architecture
- Processing Classes
- Cumulation Classes
- Evaluation Classes
- Average bases and factoring
- Payroll Control Record & Period Control
- Retroactive Accounting & Off-Cycle Payroll
- Posting to Finance (FI/CO integration)
- Symbolic Accounts & Posting Schemas
- Cluster Tables (PCL2) & Payroll Log Analysis
- Payroll Driver & Runtime Performance Optimization
- Custom Payslip Development (HR Forms / Adobe Forms)
- Statutory Reporting & Localization Framework
- Taxation Configuration – Country Specific
Integration & Technical Landscape Architecture
- Architect integrations between:
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
- EC Payroll
- SAP S/4HANA Finance
- Third-party time systems
- Banking interfaces
- Tax authorities & statutory bodies
- knowledge of:
- IDOCs
- BIB (Business Integration Builder)
- CPI (Cloud Platform Integration)
- OData APIs
- Middleware-based payroll integrations
- Define data replication models between EC and ECP.
- Architect error-handling, monitoring, and reconciliation frameworks.
Global Payroll Expertise
Experience implementing and supporting payroll solutions in two or more of the following countries. UK is must to have.

Compliance, Governance & Risk
- Ensure payroll compliance with statutory regulations, tax laws, labor laws, and data privacy requirements (including GDPR).
- Architect audit frameworks, reconciliation controls, and payroll validation processes.
- Lead year-end activities including tax reconciliations, statutory reporting, and financial alignment.
- Manage risk mitigation strategies for payroll processing failures or compliance gaps.
Operational & Compliance Responsibilities (Desired Experience)
- Managed end‑to‑end payroll cycles—data collection, calculation, validation, posting, and reporting—across multiple pay groups and countries.
- Ensured payroll runs were accurate and timely, handling exceptions, audits, and corrective actions efficiently.
