Job Description – Cloud Financial Analyst / Cloud FP&A Analyst
Role Overview
The Cloud Financial Analyst will play a critical role in driving financial insights, optimizing cloud spend, and supporting strategic business decisions. This role combines strong FP&A fundamentals with cloud cost analytics, SaaS metric understanding, and stakeholder collaboration across finance, engineering, and leadership teams. The ideal candidate brings exceptional analytical skills, advanced financial modeling capability, and hands-on experience with cloud financial data.
Core Responsibilities
1. Financial Modelling & Forecasting
- Develop and maintain complex financial models, including multi-scenario projections, run‑rate forecasts, and long‑range planning models.
- Support strategic decision-making by evaluating financial outcomes, business cases, and investment trade-offs using robust modelling techniques.
2. Cloud Cost Management (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Analyse cloud usage data, billing files, and vendor pricing to identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Evaluate key cost levers such as reserved instances, savings plans, rightsizing, auto-scaling efficiency, and resource utilization.
- Recommend and implement cost-saving strategies across cloud environments.
3. Cross-Functional Budgeting & Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Finance, and Leadership teams to build annual cloud budgets and quarterly spend forecasts.
- Ensure alignment between technical cloud consumption patterns and financial plans.
4. SaaS Metrics Application
- Apply SaaS business model metrics—including ARR/MRR, CAC, LTV, churn, NRR/GRR—to cloud financial analysis.
- Connect cloud spend drivers to product economics, customer profitability, and unit economics.
5. Variance Analysis
- Conduct monthly variance analysis comparing actuals vs. budgets/forecasts.
- Identify core drivers of deviation and provide actionable insights to leadership teams.
- Present root-cause analysis and recommend improvement measures.
6. Reporting & Presentation
- Build and deliver cloud financial reports, dashboards, and executive presentations with clear insights and visualizations.
- Translate complex technical and financial data into understandable, decision-ready business narratives.
7. Strategic Planning Support
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to develop annual operating plans and multi-year strategic financial plans.
- Support strategic initiatives through analytical deep dives and financial feasibility assessments.
8. Process Optimization & Audit Readiness
- Improve reporting processes through automation tools and templates to reduce manual effort and month-end close cycle times.
- Support audit processes by maintaining accurate documentation, reconciliations, and governance standards.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred but not required).
Technical & Financial Skills
- Strong proficiency in Advanced Excel, financial modeling, and forecasting techniques.
- Understanding of GAAP principles and financial compliance standards.
- Experience with Power BI, dashboards, and automation tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Alteryx—optional).
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret cloud and financial datasets.

Experience
- 1-3 Years experience
- Experience in FP&A, cloud financial management, SaaS business models, or cost analytics.
- Exposure to AWS/Azure/GCP cost management tools or basic cloud cost governance is preferred.
- Experience working with leadership teams and preparing executive-ready presentations.
