Your work profile

 

  • Incident Management
  • Triage and resolve L2/L3 mainframe incidents (system hangs, performance degradation, batch failures, security alerts).
  • Escalate to architecture or development teams when necessary, ensuring timely closure.
  • Problem Management
  • Conduct root‑cause investigations and produce detailed problem reports.
  • Develop and implement permanent fixes or work‑arounds, track through the problem management lifecycle.
  • Change & Release Coordination
  • Review and approve change requests (RFCs) impacting the mainframe stack.
  • Participate in release planning, testing, and post‑implementation validation.
  • Performance & Capacity
  • Monitor system performance (CPU, memory, I/O) using tools such as OMEGAMON, RMF, and SMF analytics.
  • Propose capacity upgrades and tuning recommendations.
  • Technical Documentation
  • Maintain run‑books, SOPs, and knowledge‑base articles in English and Japanese.
  • Create incident post‑mortems and share lessons learned with global teams.
  • Customer Interaction
  • Communicate incident status, technical details, and resolution steps to Japanese‑speaking stakeholders via phone, email, or video conference.
  • Translate business requirements and technical specifications between English and Japanese as needed.
  • Mentoring & Knowledge Transfer
  • Coach junior L1 staff and other support teams on mainframe troubleshooting techniques.
  • Lead occasional training sessions (in Japanese) on mainframe best practices.

 

 

Key skills required: 

  • 12+ years of experience in total
  • Mainframe Expertise-
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with z/OS, CICS, DB2, and related utilities (IDCAMS, DFSMShsm, etc.).
  • Support Levels. Proven track record delivering L2/L3 supports critical production environments.
  • Incident & Problem Management Experience using ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy) and following ITIL processes.
  • Performance Monitoring
  • Ability to analyze RMF, SMF, OMEGAMON, and other performance data.
  • Scripting/Automation
  • Familiarity with REXX, CLIST, and modern scripting (Python, Shell) for automation.
  • Japanese Proficiency
  • Business‑level (JLPT N2 or higher) – able to read/write technical documentation and converse fluently with Japanese clients.
  • Communication
  • Strong English and Japanese written/oral communication; ability to translate technical concepts clearly.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Education bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
