The Team 

Deloitte’s Technology & Transformation practice can help you uncover and unlock the value buried deep inside vast amounts of data. Our global network provides strategic guidance and implementation services to help companies manage data from disparate sources and convert it into accurate, actionable information that can support fact-driven decision-making and generate an insight-driven advantage. Our practice addresses the continuum of opportunities in business intelligence & visualization, data management, performance management and next-generation analytics and technologies, including big data, cloud, cognitive and machine learning.

We are looking for Consultants/Senior Consultants for the Engineering practice. The role involves responsibility for being a part of/leading a work stream or module on a large-scale project or overall delivery lead in case of short term/ small scale engagement. Candidates should be able to demonstrate professional experience and knowledge, coupled with strong technical background to help define and execute/contribute to end-to-end cross-functional projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own product vision, roadmap, and backlog for agentic AI initiatives; translate business outcomes into EPICs/Stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize thin vertical slices for iterative delivery; drive rapid experimentation and early instrumentation of value and risk.
  • Define and enforce HITL (Human-in-the-Loop) policies in collaboration with engineering; design approval gates, fallback paths, and assured quality workflows.
  • Decompose business problems into agentic architecture (planner/dispatcher/specialists/critic agents) with clear role boundaries and collaboration patterns.
  • Select and lead runtime strategy: prefer Vertex AI Agent Engine; leverage Cloud Run/GKE where required for performance, control, or custom runtime needs.
  • Establish A2A (agent-to-agent) interoperability contracts (Agent Cards/operations), routing strategies, retries, and fallback patterns.
  • Define prompt/tool schemas, context strategy, and memory boundaries (short/long-term memory, structured recall, grounding) for safe, reliable agent behavior.
  • Lead platform design across GCP services—Vertex AI, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Cloud Functions/Run, GKE, Secret Manager, Apigee—for scalable, secure delivery.
  • Set non-functional requirements & guardrails: availability, latency, cost, security, privacy, and Responsible AI standards; ensure adherence to IAM and data governance.
  • Orchestrate cross-functional execution across app engineering, data engineering (RAG/APIs), and integrations; remove blockers, manage dependencies, and align milestones.
  • Maintain delivery governance: risk register, dependency map, comms plan, stakeholder updates, and executive readouts.
  • Drive observability and SRE practices: structured logs, tracing/correlation IDs, dashboards, alerts, chaos testing, performance tuning, and cost optimization (FinOps).
  • Measure outcomes with product and platform KPIs (accuracy, safety, latency, adoption, MTTR, cost per request) and continuously improve.
  • Mentor the pod on engineering excellence, secure-by-design, and best practices for agentic/LLM development on Google Cloud.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years in software product/technology leadership with 3+ years in AI/ML or agentic/LLM-based systems.
  • Proven track record owning roadmaps, EPICs/Stories, and agile delivery across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Deep GCP expertise: Vertex AI (incl. pipelines, model deployment, agents), BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Cloud Functions/Run, GKE, Secret Manager, Apigee.
  • Hands-on experience architecting agentic systems: planner/dispatcher patterns, tool invocation, memory models, safety guardrails, and HITL workflows.
  • Strong grasp of RAG and retrieval performance (indexing strategies, filters, similarity configs) and grounding best practices.
  • Solid programming fundamentals in Python/Go/Java; familiarity with microservices, APIs, and event-driven designs.
  • Security & governance: IAM, VPC Service Controls, PII minimization, data lineage, auditability, compliance-aware design.
  • Operational excellence: CI/CD, observability, cost management, error budgets/SLOs, incident management.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication, with the ability to translate between business outcomes and technical plans.

Preferred Skills

  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Machine Learning Engineer, or Data Engineer certification(s).
  • Experience delivering enterprise-scale agentic AI on Vertex AI Agent Engine/Agent Builder with production traffic.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, red-teaming, and Responsible AI practices.
  • Exposure to Apigee for API facades, OAuth2/OIDC, and zero-trust integration patterns.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform), feature flags, canary/blue‑green releases, and performance/chaos testing.
  • Background in product analytics and KPI instrumentation to drive data-informed iteration.
