Manager – Functional Testing (BFSI) – 12 to 16 Years of Experience

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Functional Testing Manager with 12–16 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably within the BFSI domain, to lead large-scale testing initiatives. The candidate should have strong experience in managing large testing teams, cross-border stakeholders, and enterprise testing programs. The role requires driving quality strategy, test governance, and delivery across multiple projects and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage large functional testing teams across multiple projects and geographies.
  • Drive end-to-end testing strategy, planning, execution, and delivery for enterprise BFSI applications.
  • Manage cross-border and distributed teams, ensuring collaboration with onshore/offshore stakeholders.
  • Act as the testing lead for horizontal QA functions, supporting multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Establish test governance frameworks, quality metrics, and reporting dashboards for leadership.
  • Define test strategies, test plans, resource planning, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with Business, Product Owners, Architects, Development teams, and PMO to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Ensure requirement traceability, test coverage, and defect management across the SDLC.
  • Drive Agile testing practices including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews.
  • Manage stakeholder communication and status reporting at leadership level.
  • Implement process improvements, test optimization, and quality best practices.
  • Ensure adoption of test management tools and defect tracking systems.
  • Mentor and develop test leads and senior QA members, supporting career growth and capability building.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, automation adoption strategy, and shift-left testing practices.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

  • 12–16 years of experience in Software Testing / Quality Assurance.
  • Strong Functional Testing experience in BFSI domain (Banking, Financial Services, Insurance).
  • Proven experience managing large QA teams (20–50+ members).
  • Experience handling cross-border teams and global stakeholders.
  • Strong expertise in Test Strategy, Test Planning, Estimation, and Delivery Management.
  • Hands-on experience with test management tools such as JIRA, ALM, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and DevOps testing practices.
  • Experience in Defect Management, Risk Management, and Quality Governance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and tight timelines.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Good to Have

  • Experience in Contact Center / Contact Centre Transformation programs.
  • Exposure to Digital Banking, Payments, Lending, Platforms.
  • Knowledge of Automation Testing frameworks and strategy.
  • Exposure to API testing, Microservices architecture, and integration testing.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • ISTQB / ISTQB Advanced Level Certification
  • Agile Certification (Scrum Master / Agile Tester / SAFe)
  • Any Quality Engineering or Test Management certifications are an added advantage.
